When my kids were younger we started to Celebrate the Feasts of the Old Testament because we saw a Seder demonstration at our church which clearly reflected Jesus. We had a Passover meal just before Easter. Everyone came to the table and hung their coat over the back of the chair to be ready to flee. My husband washed the kids feet as Jesus had his disciples’ feet. We had the different cups and the matzo in a special holder called a Matzotosh which I made. We did the candle lighting and many of the traditions explained so clearly in a book. She related each of these traditions to Jesus and showed how God had foreshadowed Jesus way back then,
I found the information for doing a Christian Seder in Martha Zimmerman’s wonderful book Celebrate the Feasts of the Old Testament in Your Own Home or Church
You may want to try this. It was the first time the Old Testament came alive for me, and my kids loved it. 50 days later you can Count the Omer for Pentecost, then also celebrate the feast of Tabernacles or Booths, and Esther’s feast of Purim. This brought all of the Old Testament to life for our family.
What traditions do you have at your house that revolve around Easter? Would you please share with us?
